I have been teaching at SPCC since 2004. I love interacting with students everyday and working with my peers. I also love playing and coaching basketball, playing baseball, and golfing. I love being spontaneous and riding the wave of life where it takes me. I am also very proud to have the best wife, duaghter, and a brand new edition on the way in September. My parents are a driving force in who I have become and throughout my life I have had the best friends around me who love me for who I am. God has guided me in many ways that have turned into miracles.

Habit Project Day 8

And here starts week number two.  For those of you who have avoided your triggers it has been seven days since you did you bad habit!  I hope if you have not completely avoided your triggers that you saw some improvement.  It is now time to buckle down and plan for an even better week.  Stay motivated and take one day at a time.  Each day you succeed is one day farther away from your bad habit.  The farther away you get the easier it can be to rid yourself of it.
My weekend was very busy from a christening on Friday, to a first communion all day Sunday.  On Saturday I painted a shed for my dad and did other odd jobs around there house.  No official workouts on Saturday or Sunday but the working and painting around the house for 5 hours had its conditioning involved.  Tonight I have a basketball game at 7pm and then I look forward to some workouts for the rest of the week!  I ate a lot of food this weekend being at parties so I want to have a great week of activity and healthy foods with good portion control.  Good luck everyone!

  1. Today was a challenge. My dad bought a bunch of snacks last night for me for school. They weren't the healthiest choices but they weren't bad. I brought some cookies and a cliff bar to school today. After I finished my lunch some friends reminded me about my habit. It was nice to have friends that helped you along the way. I thought breaking my habit was getting better but it's actually getting a lot harder. The more I think of food the more I crave fattening foods. I'm going to bring a very healthy lunch tomorrow now that I am aware of my habit especially after a long weekend.
Today was also my grandmother's birthday. So after school I went over to her house and had some cake and ice cream. At that point I knew i was eating fat food so I said to my self why not, it's my grandmas birthday. In my mind I knew I shouldn't have ate it but next time I will try harder. At least tonight I have a soccer game so I can try my best to work off all the foods I ate today.
Best of luck to everyone! You're all doing well!

    1. I love your enthusiasm with the project but it seems you are surrounded by your trigger more than you are not. I know you cleaned out your cabinets and went grocery shopping once in the past week which is great but most post you are fighting off your triggers. You are doing an admirable job and you can see how hard it is to break a habit especially when the trigger pops up everywhere. Keep working hard!

  2. Hey! So yesterday was a pretty productive day. I woke up at about 10 which was really nice because I like to sleep in once in a while. My dad and I were supposed to go to the grocery store early but he was doing work so we ended up going at noon. After we got home and put the groceries away my dad had to go to Boston for work so it was me and Timmy alone because my mom was also at work. My dad gave me and Timmy a list of chores to do which kept me occupied and off my phone. I also did my homework even though I knew I wasn't going to school on Monday. After we got our chores done my dad was home and it was time to eat supper. We had steak and it was really good. After supper we all sat on the couch and watched movies. I ended up going upstairs at about 11. Hope everyone is doing well!

  3. Henno! Yesterday was ok. My great grandpa came over for a visit and we had an early dinner around 2:30. After we ate my grandma and grandpa we talking to him while I was doing my home work. After like an hour my grandpa took him home. Then me and my grandma went shopping. We got home at around 7:00. I put all my stuff away and then got in the shower. I then was watching the billboard awards. I didn't watch the whole thing because I got tired. At about 9:30 I went upstairs and I read some of my book. By 10:15 I put it away and then went to bed. Good luck to everyone on their projects!

Im proud of myself and everyone else because everyone is doing a great job!!

    1. Avoid the trigger with a healthy habit and success will occur, who knows maybe even a new habit will begin. Just make sure it is one that will benefit your life!

  5. Hi today was s pretty good day. I didn't really crack my knuckles that much. I cracked them A few times. Even though I am still cracking them I am seeing a lot of improvement and I think that's good. Today for lunch I had a snadwhich. For snacks I had an apple and a banana. I was glad that I only had healthy snacks. When I got home I went to a lacrosse game. I had some chex mix which was not the healthiest choice. I have cut back a lot on snacking which I am very happy about

  6. Today I got up at 6;00 am and i really really wanted to watch my uTube and it was on my mind all morning. It was just that feeling that you had to play it and I couldn't play so i stared at it. So it got difficult and i didn't know what to do so i had to take my mind off of it. But this shows its going to become more difficult on the journey. My classmates and Mr. Phillips, this is harder than i expected.

  7. Temptation continues to gnaw at my brain when I give up my phone. Texts, unfinished movies and tv shows, youtube videos I want to watch, and more make it very hard to give up my phone. I still feel good when I give it up, but it feels like my phone is calling me from wherever it is. These triggers are getting overwhelming, so I am putting as much space as possible in between myself and my phone. Even though this is hard, I have decided to add on another habit. The second habit is cracking my knuckles. It annoys the people around me and makes my joints feel weird. I know it can't be good for my fingers. If I can overcome this easier habit, it might give me the willpower to deny excuses and triggers. Wish me luck! Reading these blog posts is the only thing keeping my temptations from making me return to my habit.

  9. Hello! Today went better then last weekend . I had a healthy lunch with fruit and wheat pasta . It tastes the same as regular pasta so it didn't taste bad . After school I had dance which occupied me from using my phone for a little. After dance I went to my brothers baseball game. I'm just getting home now and I'm about to turn off my phone and study for our science quiz .

  10. I'm doing a good job on my habit. When I got out of school my mom and I cleaned out her car for an hour. After we got home my cousins met us up. We went to Osaka in shrewsbury. We had a hibachi dinner honoring my mother passing the part of nursing school she is in. When we got home we were informed with horrible news. I am currently going to sleep over Matt's house. Good job with your habits everyone.

  12. Today was a good day. Actually I ended up playing an extra hour because I had NOTHING to do, and I've finished all my books leaving me nothing to read which is actually disappointing. I was also dissapointed at me playing an extra hour but I'm trying my hardest. Tomorrow should be a better day though because I have a street hockey game and I have a feeling I'll do better.

  13. So today was good except that I forgot about the project. I was on my iPod for around an hour so I kinda feel bad now. I did do good things to make up for it. I had iceskating which wasn't fun at all because I couldn't do some things that I'm normally good at. The I went to the store and back home. At that point it was around 7 so I got ready for a run and I ran. Then I ate supper and went in my iPod. I'm doing homework late so I would like to do that earlier. So tomorrow I am going to remind myself to do things productive. I'll will see all of you tomorrow. Bwa bye

  14. Hi! Today, I left school at around 4:00 because I was in after-school, and got home around 4:15. When I came home, I went on the couch to get some rest but saw my IPad lying there. I knew it should've beem upstairs, but I was kind of tired and spaced out, so I went on it for around 10 minutes. I realized what I was doing and shut it down, feeling disappointed that I had went on it. After that, I had some leftover steak and rice from yesterday, and went upstairs to draw. I get really frustrated because everything I draw has to be perfect, but they never look good, so I get upset. However, I had soccer practice at 6:30, so I got dressed around 5:30 and continued to attempt to draw. I left home around 6:15 to pick up Megan Mac and go to practice. After practice ended around 8:00, I went out to ice cream with Megan and her mom and my mom and Tricia. I studied a little when I got home at around 9:00. With my like habit, it's still going horrible. I tried to slow down what I say, but it messes up my speech. Any helpful advice? Thank you and good luck!

    1. The couch seems to be a rigger for you that maybe you should try to avoid. Its up to you. With your like habit do ten sit ups everytime you say it! you have engraved that word as a part of your normal speech so it will take some time to get it out.

  15. Today I was successful in avoiding my habit. In the morning I had a tough time waking up and felt sleepy into second period today. I think it was because I slept in during the weekend. After I stopped feeling groggy the day went pretty easy. I got my exercise in when I went to the park to play basketball with Matt, Nana, and Dylan, then when I got home i found a 10 minute core exercise to do. Now I'm heading to sleep and it feels like my body has adjusted to the earlier sleeping schedule.

  16. Yesterday my habit worked out fine I guess. I got home at around 4:00 and I had to eat, get ready for my game, and do some chores. My game went from 6:00 to 8:00 and when I got home I did my only homework which was to study. My brother even helped me with that by quizzing me.

  17. This was a nice start to week two. Yesterday when I was walking home from school this guy who was smoking asked me if I wanted some and I naturally said no, but then he asked if I wanted gum and I still said no which made him pretty upseat. Then a funny thing happened his mom came out and pulled him by the ear like they do in T.V. shows. Anyway as for my habit it's starting to get easier to not chew gum before it was like deciding on whether to be with your family or friends. But now I can accept it . I feel like week two will be easier for me

  18. Today was a pretty hard day for me emotionally for me. I was glad that I had no homework to do when I got home. It started when I got off the bus because of heading straight home we went to target. But when I got home my mom sat my sister and I down to talk about recent family issues. After the talk I was tired but still studied hard. Not a great way to start week 2 though.

  19. Yesterday was another successful day. I got off the bus and went over to Kaitlyn's house and her nana got us McDonalds which I had yesterday. I went over to her house and we talked and played with her dog nugget. I helped her with her math homework and then we talked until 6:30 she jumped in her pool and I started to laugh so hard. I got home and I went to the store and got jolly ranchers #jollyranchersforlife lol. My mom came home and I said hi and I love her. I was surprised this time when there was no bugs this time. I cleansed half of my room and went to bed. I woke up at 2:30 to do homework and cleaned my room. I went back to bed, but I didn't feel good so I got up and started to complain to my mom ( mumma sue). I told her I didn't want to go to school today because I didn't feel good, but she made me go anyways. I avoided my trigger and I'm proud of myself. This project has helped me a lot

  21. Yesterday my day was packed. When I got home from school I relaxed for a half an hour and then went to my baseball practice. I got home around 7:15 because I had to go to the grocery store with my mom. When I got home I did my homework and then watched TV with my mom. Now I always go up to my room at 9:30 to get ready for bed. After that I read my book. Reading my book at night is beginning to feel like second nature. I hope everyone else is doing great on their project.

We didnt get home until like 9:30 so i did a little workout and i am going to read when this is posted.
